Atlantic Beach is bordered by Hanna Park to the north, Atlantic Boulevard to the south and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west, Atlantic Beach offers a small-town atmosphere with easy access to the ocean. Stretching only about 25 blocks from north to south, Atlantic Beach is a closed-end community with an upscale, neighborhood feeling. The town center, near the landmark and soon-to-be renovated Sea Turtle Inn, is a popular gathering point with many unique eateries and boutiques. Atlantic Beach has plenty of parks with opportunities for a variety of activities such as tennis, racquetball, basketball, baseball and nature hikes, as well as playground equipment for children. The community is dominated by single-family homes, with some townhouses and duplexes. Mayport, a part of Atlantic Beach, is an eclectic area which includes a quaint fishing town and a strong military presence. The delightful area is home to a fleet of shrimp boats, a large naval base, old Florida-style bungalows and numerous pelicans squatting on salt-warped pilings. Rich in history, the Arlington community has abundant waterfront property, surrounded by the St. Johns on the west and north and the Intracoastal on the east. Fort Caroline National Park overlooks the historical site of a former colony of French Huguenots. Centrally located, Southside is a large, sprawling community bordered by Arlington to the north and east, St. Johns County to the south and San Marco and I-95 to the west. This is literally the southernmost area of urban Jacksonville and is in the middle of all other Jacksonville communities. Riverfront homes and estates are abundant, as are gorgeous gated communities. In the central Southside area, new apartment developments less than a few years old surround St. Johns Town Center, a new, upscale shopping village with more than 100 retailers. What used to be a rural area, Mandarin is south of Baymeadows bordered by Philips Highway to the west and Julington Creek to the south. Primarily rural until the end of the 1960s when developers discovered the area, Mandarin has been a popular family-oriented community for more than 20 years. It offers residents an established community with a history as well as the conveniences connected with the larger Jacksonville metropolitan area. Mandarin homes range from modest single family homes to estates on the St. Johns River or even small country homes with stables. Jacksonville has a variety of homes and neighborhoods to suit every taste and budget. To view all of the property listings in the city click here. Riverside
